Championing food security through innovation, Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary Conrado M. Estrella III met with officials of Pangasinan State University (PSU) on July 18, 2026, at the Estrella Farm to discuss potential collaborations in precision aquaculture and sustainable agricultural development.
As a strategic partner in agricultural innovation, PSU brings to the collaboration its strong academic foundation through its agriculture and fisheries programs, complemented by its research, extension, and innovation initiatives that contribute to sustainable food production and rural development.
Present during the meeting were PSU President Dr. Elbert M. Galas, PSU Faculty Regent Dr. Ace John Mark Liwanag, and Prof. Arlyn Mandas of Mindanao State University General Santos, together with DAR Secretary Estrella and other officials.
The discussion explored opportunities for collaborative research, technology transfer, and capacity-building initiatives in precision aquaculture and sustainable agriculture. It also highlighted the two institutions’ goal of advancing science- and technology-driven solutions that will strengthen the country’s agriculture and fisheries sectors.
This collaboration paves the way for impactful programs that will benefit farming and fishing communities while contributing to a more resilient and food-secure Philippines.
