Pangasinan State University, through its Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO), spearheaded a Workshop on Job Description aimed at enhancing employees’ understanding of roles, responsibilities and performance expectations within the institution.
University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas said the workshop is an insightful activity that will equip participants with knowledge and tools necessary to develop clear, comprehensive and effective JDs that would contribute to improved organizational performance and employee success.
The first day of the workshop series slated June 10, gathered employees from the Divisions of the Research, Extension and Innovation (OVPREI) led by the Vice President, Dr. Razeale Resultay and the Local and International Affairs (OVPLIA) headed by the Vice President, Dr. Renato Salcedo.
The said workshop continued on June 16, 2026, with the participation of university and campus officials from the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Finance Management (OVPAFM), led by Vice President Dr. Jeanilyn Villanueva, alongside officials from the Office of the President.
The succeeding session, held on June 17, 2026, gathered officials from the Office of the Vice President for Academic and Student Services (OVPASS), headed by Vice President Dr. Weenalei T. Fajardo, as they actively engaged in the workshop. The fourth series of the JD Workshop was conducted on July 2, 2026, bringing together another batch of OVPAFM officials.
In an opening message, Dr. Villanueva, emphasized the importance of clearly defined job descriptions in promoting organizational efficiency, accountability, and professional growth.
Acting Director for HRMDO, Dr. Shiela Marie Malicdem, in the Statement of Purpose encouraged the participants to actively engage in discussions and share insights regarding their current duties and workplace experiences.
In the workshop proper, University Document Control Custodian Dr. Charles Dustein Soriano, discussed the content of the JD Manual including the fundamental components of a job description and job purpose.
Meanwhile, through interactive presentations and group activities, Dr. And Julie Rosal, Head of Sustainable Development unit, provided an overview of JD Mapping that included key responsibilities, required competencies and reporting relationships.
A significant portion of the workshop was devoted to hands-on exercises where participants reviewed existing job descriptions and identified areas requiring updates or clarification to ensure alignment with current operational needs and institutional standards.
Questions regarding role boundaries, accountability measures and evolving job requirements were addressed by the HR facilitators, providing valuable guidance and clarity.
The HRMDO team leaders for each unit also took part in the workshop and served as members of the Technical Working Committee (TWC).
