The Department of Education (DepEd) Region I conducted a four-day training on the Data Management Analytics System (DMAS) from November 24 to 27, 2025. The activity was organized to enhance the capacity of education program specialists, supervisors, and technical staff in utilizing data mining tools and the DMAS platform for evidence-based planning, monitoring, and reporting. The training was hosted in collaboration with the Pangasinan State University (PSU), particularly the College of Computing at the Urdaneta Campus, which provided system facilitators and resource speakers.
The training commenced with an Opening Program featuring the National Anthem, Region I Hymn, and Quality Policy. Key officials delivered messages:
- Stephanie T. Montemayor acknowledged participants.
- Tolentino G. Aquino, Regional Director, gave the welcome address.
- Cecilia P. Rosido, Chief Education Supervisor, outlined the statement of purpose.
The technical sessions began with Bobby F. Roaring, Research Coordinator of PSU, who introduced participants to data mining concepts and applications. This was followed by a live demonstration of the Orange Data Mining Tool, where participants engaged in hands-on activities such as working with datasets, applying visualization techniques, and building classification models. The day emphasized foundational skills in data mining and the practical use of Orange software.
Day 2 focused on Advanced Text Mining in Orange, again facilitated by Mr. Roaring and PSU faculty. Participants explored text mining processes, including sentiment analysis and document clustering. The sessions were highly interactive, with extended hands-on activities and group presentations of outputs. The day highlighted the importance of text analytics in educational data, particularly in analyzing qualitative information from reports and feedback.
The third day marked the formal introduction of the Data Management Analytics System (DMAS) by Leo Gabriel V. Villanueva, Head of Information Systems at PSU. The training covered:
- Official Enrollment Reports
- Muslim & Indigenous Learner Data Modules
- ALIVE and ALS Learners Module
- Special Needs Education & Data Privacy Protocols
Participants engaged in a hands-on session on creating complete learner records, ensuring inclusivity and compliance with data privacy standards. This day bridged the technical skills learned earlier with the actual DMAS platform, contextualizing its application to DepEdโs reporting requirements.
The final day concentrated on Advanced Report Customizations, Activity Logs, and Account Management within DMAS. Mr. Villanueva and PSU facilitators demonstrated real-time monitoring and dashboard use, enabling participants to generate dynamic reports and track institutional performance.
The training concluded with final output preparation, peer feedback, and presentations of outputs. The Closing Program featured:
- Makabayan Song
- Ways Forward by Cecilia P. Rosido
- Closing Remarks by Rhoda T. Razon, Assistant Regional Director
- Distribution of certificates and a photo opportunity
