The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has officially complied with Executive Order (EO) No. 3, allowing the voluntary wearing of face masks in outdoor settings within campuses, the commission announced today through their Facebook page.
CHED advised all Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to observe the provisions of EO No. 3, otherwise known as “Allowing Voluntary Wearing of Face Masks in Outdoor Settings and Reiterating the Continued Implementation of Minimum Public Health Standards during the State of Public Health Emergency Relative to the COVID-19 Pandemic” through a CHED memorandum from the Office of the Chairperson dated September 12.
Prior to this, the guidelines of CHED on the usage of facemasks mandated that masks should be worn properly, except only when eating and drinking in designated areas, participating in sports, and practicing outdoor activities.
CHED emphasized that face masks should continue to be worn in both indoor and outdoor settings, where physical distancing cannot be maintained. Non-fully-vaccinated individuals, senior citizens, and immunocompromised individuals are still highly encouraged to wear their masks.
