Two Pangasinan State University-Urdaneta City Campus (PSU-UCC) Information Technology (IT) students won two medals at the 11th IT Skills Olympics Competition with the theme: “ICT at the Convergence of Education and Technology in the HyFlex World” led by the College of Computing and Information Sciences of the University of Makati held at Makati City, Phillipines last November 11.
Romar Macaraeg, a fourth-year IT student, and Dick Lomibao, the participant of C# Programming, won a gold medal and reigned as the Champion in the Web Design Competition and first place, which were coached by Leo Gabriel Villanueva and Rhenel Bernisca, respectively. Meanwhile, Jebson Ubaldo, a fourth-year participant of IT Quiz Bee, became a finalist.
Among the students who also participated in the Olympics are:
Joshua Yaacoub (Java Programming participant) Harmon Javier (Networking) Jan Maverick Agbunag (PC Disassembly and Assembly) July Rosal, John Brix Porras and Benjie Pecson (Application Development) Janus Abril, Junard Chua, Ronnie Cula, John Raphael Garcia, Miguel Laureta (E-sports).
Each participant was coached by ICT faculty members Michael Acosta, Kathleen De Guzman (IT Quiz Bee), Brian Lapitan (Java Programming), Paul Andrew Roa (Networking), Ray Magat (PC Assembly/Disassembly) , Arnie-rie Tamayo (Android Application Development) and Joshua Reyes (E-sports) and was supervised by Dr. Frederick Patacsil, College of Computing Dean.
PSU-UCC extends appreciation to the students who participated in the said competition for proudly representing the campus.
