Pangasinan State University (PSU) President Dr. Elbert M. Galas led the University’s delegation to the Luzon Cluster of the AACCUP/AQAN, SEAMEO-RIHED, and AUN Workshop on University Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) held from July 14–16, 2026 at Marikina Polytechnic College, Marikina City.
Supporting President Galas in advancing the University’s quality assurance agenda were key officials and academic leaders, including Vice President for Quality Assurance Dr. Celeste T. Mercado; Director for Local Accreditation Prof. William V. Cayetano; Dean of the College of Arts, Science, and Technology; Dr. Ghana Cahatol; Dean of the College of Teacher Education Dr. Honelly Casculan; and Binmaley Campus faculty member Dr. Larry Santos.
Their participation sustains efforts in strengthening quality assurance, accreditation, and continuous improvement across its academic programs.
Organized by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) in partnership with the ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN), SEAMEO Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO-RIHED), and the ASEAN University Network (AUN), the three-day workshop gathered SUC presidents, vice presidents, quality assurance heads, and academic leaders across Luzon. Participants underwent sessions on the AUN-QA IQA Management Toolkit Version 1.3, institutional quality assurance frameworks, governance-driven quality systems, and strategic approaches to embedding quality culture in higher education institutions. The program also featured a Collaborative Meeting with the IQA Team and Philippine Normal University (PNU), where university leaders discussed strategies for advancing internal quality assurance across Philippine higher education institutions.
The program featured quality assurance experts and higher education leaders, including CHED Commissioner Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, who shared insights on advancing institutional quality and outcomes-based higher education. Participants underwent sessions on the AUN-QA IQA Management Toolkit Version 1.3, institutional quality assurance frameworks, governance-driven quality systems, and strategic approaches to embedding quality culture in higher education institutions. Through the active engagement of its academic and quality assurance leaders, the University continues to to institutionalize data-driven, outcomes-based, and internationally benchmarked quality assurance practices.
