Pangasinan State University proudly celebrates a significant milestone as the Philippine Technological Council (PTC) has officially accredited the PSU–Urdaneta City Campus as a Tier 1 Institution under the PTC Tier Classification System (TCS).
This recognition affirms that the University has successfully met the category thresholds across all three TCS criteria following the rigorous assessment and evaluation of its Self-Tiering Assessment Report (STAR). The Tier 1 classification is valid for six (6) years and reflects PSU’s commitment to quality assurance, academic excellence and continuous improvement in engineering education. Currently, Tier 1 classification is being awarded to a few higher institutions with highly performing engineering programs like University of the Philippines-Diliman, Batangas State University and Technological Institute of the Philippines.
This achievement also paves the way for greater global recognition of PSU’s engineering programs. Under the Washington Accord framework, engineering programs offered by a Tier 1 institution and accredited by PTC may qualify for international recognition. Furthermore, PTC-accredited engineering programs of the University will be eligible for inclusion in the register of accredited programs of the Federation of Engineering Institutions of Asia and the Pacific (FEIAP).
This year, all four engineering programs of PSU Urdaneta will undergo accreditation process including the preparation of self-survey report (SSR) and site review visit.
University President Dr. Elbert M. Galas said this accomplishment is a testament to the collective dedication of the PSU administrators, faculty members, staff, students, alumni and industry partners who continuously strive to elevate the standards of engineering education and institutional excellence.
