The College of Computing headed by Dr. Frederick F. Patacsil convened with the Local Government Unit of Alaminos City last October 15, 2024 to discuss the project proposal for the Smart Tourism Enhancement in Hundred Island National Park. This initiative aims to implement an Integrated IoT-Based Boat Tracking and Management System combined with a Data Analytics Platform. The meeting sought to secure the LGU’s assurance and support for the successful implementation of this innovative project.
The project team presented a comprehensive overview of the proposal, emphasizing the need for a smart tourism approach in Hundred Island National Park. During the meeting, Mayor Arth Bryan C. Celeste highlighted the following commitments:
● Providing logistical support: assisting in the installation and deployment of IoT devices and other project infrastructure within the park;
● Facilitating stakeholder collaboration: ensuring communication among boat drivers and owners and park management;
● Data sharing: providing access to relevant information and insights gathered from the previously developed system;
● Allocating resources: supporting financial and human resources to support the implementation and maintenance of the system.
● Subscription of Cloud Storage: subject to usual accounting guidelines and budget prioritization, the Alaminos LGU shall support the project thru the subscription of necessary Cloud Storage for the project’s implementation.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to the success of the Smart Tourism Enhancement project. The LGU’s assurance and proactive stance are vital for the project’s implementation, aligning with the shared goal of enhancing tourism while ensuring the preservation of the Hundred Islands National Park.
